Diversity Robs Newberg Oregon : Sanctuary State
Newberg-Dundee Detectives arrested two persons responsible for the June 19th Robbery of the Best Western Hotel in Newberg. During the robbery, one suspect entered the business, presented a firearm, and demanded money. The suspect fled on foot toward a neighborhood to the north.
During the investigation, officers conducted a neighborhood canvas of the suspect’s last known location. Officers/detectives recovered video surveillance footage showing a man running from behind an abandoned lot and entering a Honda CRV. This vehicle was driven by an adult female. Based on the video footage, detectives were able to identify specific features and characteristics of the suspect vehicle and to narrow their focus by vehicle year and color.
While following those leads, detectives located a vehicle in Dundee matching those criteria. Detectives were able to identify a man and woman matching the suspects’ physical descriptions who had access to this vehicle at the time of the robbery. The vehicle belonged to a family member living in Dundee.
On July 1, 2011 the suspects were located and taken into custody at a Motel 6 in Salem, Oregon. Members of Oregon State Police SWAT, Keizer Police Department, McMinnville Police Department, and US Marshall’s Office assisted with surveillance and warrant service.
